Statement by Nancy Perry, director of the Oregon Bear and Cougar Coalition, prior to the first showing of the video footage of bear poaching in Oregon using dogs. The statement was given to the press on April 7, 1995. Text of Measure 18, a ballot initiative passed in November, 1994, to ban bear hunting with bait and bear and cougar hunting with dogs.
