Meat is Murder

Imagine this: Christmas dinner, I walked into the dining room with my drink, set it down and picked up my plate. As I walked into the kitchen to start serving myself, I caught a glimpse of the rib roast that was prepared for the carnivores in my family. My dad had just started carving it, the sharp, serrated blade slowly sawing through the half-cooked flesh. Thick red blood was oozing from the ex-cow and running down the snow-white cabinets, collecting in a small puddle on the hardwood floor. I turned away to try to erase the images from my mind.

Later, at dinner, I had to sit encircled by people gnawing meat off bones that were once inside of a cow. When I couldn't take it anymore, I excused myself and went to my room to get away from it. Just when I thought I was safe, I noticed something on my floor. Someone had given Walter, one of my dogs, a bone. It laid there with chunks of cartilage and flesh still attached.

It is incidents like these that give me reason to be a vegetarian. Animals are living, breathing creatures who deserve a chance at life just as much as any human does. Mother Nature is a beautiful thing; why destroy her children for your own sick pleasure? Meat was once a muscle that aided that animal in moving, living. Just so that you can eat meat, thousands of innocent, defenseless animals are abused and murdered, cut up into tiny, meal-size portions for your dining enjoyment. It's disgusting.

Did you know that a cow's milk is partly made of pus? Pus is the oozy white liquid that is the result of a bacterial infection. So basically, you're drinking a liquid that is partly the result of an infection. Did you also know that McDonald's hamburger meat is a grade below the meat used in cat food, and that one hamburger contains meat from up to 500 different cows! So, you spend more money feeding your cat then you do buying a masticated slab of cow dripping in grease (I would hope so).

Meat is murder no matter how you look at it. You are killing poor defenseless animals in cold blood. How would you like to be killed and eaten?
